Dear Friends of HTLC,
For over a decade, the Harvard Taiwan Leadership Conference has been dedicated to its mission of providing students in Taiwan with transformative leadership experiences that naturally emphasize collaboration and creativity. HTLC welcomes students and teachers from all backgrounds who believe in the conference’s potential to effectively impart skills and wisdom to its attendees, foster lifelong relationships amongst the young leaders, and create meaningful experiences for all those who take part.
First and foremost, the conference is designed to ensure that our teachers, teaching assistants, and students have the opportunity to share and learn from one another. Through this learning process, we hope that all parties will be inspired to become better leaders and better people. In addition, we hope the opportunity for such exchanges will foster discussion on key issues, teach students crucial communication skills, and help students become more confident in expressing themselves.
Most of our students and teachers reflect that the most precious aspect of HTLC is that you gain a family out of it. Despite the myriad of events planned within the packed conference schedule, often the most memorable experiences are those that happen between the academic lectures and the extracurricular workshops. For some of us, the most memorable experiences take place in the lunchroom, where you can strike up a random conversation with someone and immediately resonate with them. For others, the most memorable experiences may be found in working with a team to prepare an act for the talent show. HTLC helps to build incredibly supportive relationships. To this day, we are still in contact with our students from last year—we have become lifelong friends.
We believe in HTLC’s mission and in its ability to shape the future leaders of Taiwan. The students we have worked with have told us that HTLC was an eye-opening experience and has improved their confidence as leaders. As former teachers, we can also speak to the fact that HTLC is not only impactful for the students, but also transformative for the staff. We hope that you are compelled and inspired by HTLC’s mission. And, to that end, we invite you to join us this August in Taipei.
All the best,
